About

This is a guide to Leptokarya, Platamonas and the Pierian coast, written by someone with roots here rather than a company that has never smelt the pines in August.

Who is behind this

I write here as Yogochun. My family is from this stretch of coast between Mount Olympus and the Aegean, and my grandmother Pepitsa has lived for years just along the shore near the Poseidon Palace. I have spent more summers here than I can count, which is the only qualification that really matters for a guide like this. I know which beaches catch the afternoon wind, which tavernas fill with Greek families rather than coaches, and how the light falls on Platamonas castle at the end of the day.

Why I built it

Most of what is written about this region in English is thin, recycled, or trying to sell you something before it has told you anything true. I wanted a guide that starts from the place itself: what it is actually like to spend a week here, where to go, what to skip, and how to do it well on any budget. Everything here is written to be useful first.

An honest word on how this stays free

Some links on this site, mainly to booking platforms, are affiliate links. If you book through them I may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend or what you pay. It simply helps keep the guide running and independent. Local businesses can also list in the directory, and I mark anything featured clearly. Recommendations are never for sale.

Have a place, or a tip? If you run a business in the area, or you know a corner of the region that deserves to be here, I would love to hear from you.
